GES Opens Promotion Window for Non‑Teaching Staff

 The Ghana Education Service (GES) has formally invited applications from serving non‑teaching staff for promotion to upper grades across its professional classes.

In a circular issued from the GES Headquarters and signed by Deputy Director‑General (MS), Prof. Smile Dzisi, management announced that the application window will run from September 14 to 28, 2026. The directive covers staff in accounting, internal audit, administration, catering, technical, supply, librarian, laboratory technician, secretarial, and driver classes.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have been promoted to their current grade in or before 2022, and must have maintained continuous service with satisfactory work history and good conduct. Officers holding Master’s or PhD certificates may also apply, provided their programs are on the approved GES course list and the certificates were obtained in or before 2023.

Mode of Application

Candidates are required to complete the application form online via the official portal or QR code provided in the circular. Supporting documents — including appointment or last promotion letters and relevant academic certificates — must be uploaded in PDF format, with the exception of passport photographs. All submissions must be clear and readable.

Positions Available

Promotions will be considered for senior roles such as:

  • Chief Accountant, Deputy Chief Accountant, and Principal Accountant under the Accounting Class.
  • Chief Internal Auditor, Deputy Chief Internal Auditor, and Principal Internal Auditor under the Audit Class.
  • Chief Administrative Officer, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, and Principal Administrative Officer under Administration.
  • Senior posts in Catering, Technical, Supply, Librarian, Laboratory Technician, Secretarial, and Driver classes.

Management emphasized that the promotion exercise is aimed at strengthening the professional structure of the Service and urged applicants to adhere strictly to the guidelines.
