The Ghana Education Service (GES) has responded to growing concerns over outstanding salary arrears for teachers recruited in 2024, assuring affected staff that steps are underway to resolve the issue.
In a statement issued on 8 September 2026, the Service acknowledged receipt of a petition from the Coalition of Unpaid Teachers and confirmed that while most arrears have been processed, some individual cases require further verification.
To expedite resolution, GES has established a dedicated Help Desk at its headquarters in Accra. Teachers with unresolved concerns are advised to report to Room 305 with supporting documents for verification. Those unable to visit in person may contact the Help Desk hotlines on 0302160786 or 0201360789 for assistance.
Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, emphasized management’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of teachers. “Management is committed to addressing all legitimate concerns promptly and safeguarding the welfare of teachers,” the release stated.
The intervention comes amid mounting pressure from teacher unions and advocacy groups, who have warned that prolonged delays in salary payments undermine morale and disrupt classroom delivery.
GES has urged patience and cooperation from affected teachers as the verification process continues, assuring that all legitimate claims will be addressed without delay.
