GES Condemns Assault on Teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has strongly condemned an assault on a teacher of Kade Senior High Technical School , describing the act as unacceptable and assuring the public that appropriate sanctions will be applied.

In an immediate release signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, GES said its attention was drawn to a video circulating on social media showing the attack on a teacher, identified as Mr. Michael Quayson, by some students of the school.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on Saturday, October 5, 2025, during an invigilation session for the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) paper. The students reportedly assaulted the teacher after he was alleged to have slapped one of them.

GES clarified that the matter was not officially reported to school authorities at the time of the incident and only came to light following the circulation of the video online. Investigations have since been launched.

“The Service condemns the assault in the strongest terms as such behaviour is unacceptable, unlawful and a direct affront to the dignity of the teaching profession,” the statement said.

GES assured teachers across the country of its full support and commitment to ensuring discipline and professionalism within schools.

The offending students, the Service said, will be dealt with in accordance with existing laws and GES regulations to ensure that justice is served.

GES further called on students nationwide to uphold discipline and respect authority as investigations into the incident continue.
