Four Dead, Others Injured in Gun Attack at NHIA Office in Garu

At least four people have lost their lives, while several others are battling for survival after unidentified gunmen opened fire on civilians at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office in Garu, located in the Upper East Region.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that four assailants, riding on two motorbikes, stormed the NHIA premises on Monday morning and attacked people gathered there. As they fled the scene, the gunmen reportedly fired indiscriminately at anyone in their path.

The incident was confirmed by the Garu District Chief Executive, John Abaare.

The reason for the assault remains unclear, as police have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances and bring the perpetrators to justice.
