Final Funeral Rites for Dr. Edward Omane Boamah Set for December 13

The concluding funeral rites for Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, former Minister of Defence and ex-Director of Elections and IT of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), are scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025.

An official statement from the Presidency indicates that the service will commence at 12:00 noon at Jackson’s Park in Koforidua. The event is expected to draw family members, government dignitaries, party leaders, and members of the public, all gathering to pay their last respects to the distinguished statesman.

Dr. Omane Boamah met his untimely death on August 6, 2025, in a military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of all eight passengers aboard.

The tragic accident involved a Harbin Z-9EH helicopter (tail number GHF 631) operated by the Ghana Air Force.

Among those who perished in the crash were several prominent figures: Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology; Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice-Chair; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
