The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to reconsider its decision not to sign a peace accord ahead of Ghana’s December 2024 elections.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the NDC reportedly stated in an interview the party would not sign a peace declaration ahead of the upcoming general elections.
However, in a statement, the New Patriotic Party describe the National Democratic Congress’s stance as “unfortunate” and “incendiary,” fearing it may create an environment of fear and suspicion among NDC supporters, potentially leading them to reject the election results.
The NPP’s statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua reaffirms its commitment to peace and stability during and after the elections, citing its consistent efforts to maintain peace since the Fourth Republic began.
