Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Receives Nuclear Power Ghana Delegation

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP), on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, received a delegation from Nuclear Power Ghana led by Executive Chief Director, Dr. Stephen Yamoah.

The delegation briefed the Deputy Minister on progress made toward harnessing nuclear energy for peaceful and civil purposes to boost Ghana’s energy production. Updates included site assessments, community engagement, vendor technology selection, capacity building, infrastructure development, and regulatory compliance to ensure safety.

Plans were also outlined for grid integration and regional power export through the West African Power Pool (WAPP), positioning Ghana as a potential regional leader in nuclear energy.

In his remarks, Honourable Quayson commended Nuclear Power Ghana for its strategic approach to programme implementation. He assured the Ministry’s support for initiatives promoting the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technology, stressing adherence to international safety standards and stronger collaboration with stakeholders to advance Ghana’s nuclear energy objectives.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nuclear Power Ghana to enhance Ghana’s capacity in nuclear energy.
