The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced the full settlement of its 2026 Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) bond obligations, paying a total of GH¢2.3 billion to bondholders.
In a statement issued by the Public Affairs Department, COCOBOD confirmed that the payment of GH¢2,306,202,372.09 marks the completion of its mandatory obligations under the DDEP. Earlier in March, the Board disbursed GH¢376 million in coupon payments, bringing total payouts to bondholders this year to GH¢2.68 billion.
The release further noted that in July, COCOBOD settled GH¢162 million owed to holders of Cocoa Bills who did not participate in the DDEP, closing all outstanding obligations to non‑DDEP investors.
“These payments demonstrate the Board’s commitment to responsible financial management and the systematic settlement of its financial obligations,” the statement read, adding that the move forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the financial sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector under the guidance of the Ministry of Finance.
The announcement is expected to reassure investors and stakeholders in the cocoa industry, following months of scrutiny over debt restructuring and its impact on the sector’s stability.
