The Presidency has announced that the Children Support Fund, created to provide financial assistance to the children of victims of the recent helicopter crash, has accrued a total of GHS 2.3 million.
The initiative was announced by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, on Friday, August 15, as a direct response to the devastating loss of lives in the August 6 helicopter accident.
Stanbic Bank Ghana provided an initial seed donation of GH¢500,000, with further support coming from various corporate organizations such as Procus GH Limited, GB Foods Ghana, Sunda FM Manufacturing Ltd, Sage Distribution Ltd, Quantum Oil Terminals, Quantum LPG Logistics Ltd, Newgas Cylinder Ltd, and Quantum Terminals PLC.
Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and oversees the Fund, noted that contributions can be made via designated Stanbic Bank Ghana accounts in both Ghanaian cedis and US dollars. She also mentioned that donor names will be released weekly to promote accountability.
This initiative was launched in response to the tragic helicopter crash on August 6, which resulted in the loss of several lives, including two government ministers.
The total amount raised so far stands at Three Million, Two Hundred and Fifteen Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 3,215,000.00), with GHS 2.3 million specifically earmarked for the Children Support Fund.
Government has partnered with Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited to facilitate donations. Contributions can be made to the following account:
