The Bank of Ghana has issued a formal clarification regarding its representation on the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), following recent public discussions about the role of its officials on the statutory body.
In a statement released by the Communications Department, the Bank confirmed that Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama ceased to serve as a member of the GoldBod Board effective May 2026. Since that date, he has not participated in any meetings or activities of the Board.
The clarification cites Section 4 of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), which provides for representation by the Governor or an official of the Bank not below the rank of Director. In line with this provision, the Bank has nominated its Second Deputy Governor, Mrs. Matilda Asante‑Asiedu, as its representative.
The release emphasized the Bank’s commitment to good governance and the avoidance of conflicts of interest, assuring stakeholders that its representation on the Gold Board remains consistent with statutory requirements.
