A heavy police presence has been established in Asesewa following a clash between supporters of NPP Parliamentary Candidate Joseph Tetteh and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) Bismark Tetteh Nyarko.
The altercation began when NDC supporters noticed District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment branded with NPP logos parked at the hotel of the NPP candidate.
Attempting to photograph the equipment, the NDC supporters were confronted by NPP supporters, leading to a brawl that resulted in several injuries, including the NPP constituency chairman.
Salifu Mohammed, also known as Foreigner, a youth leader of the NPP who is currently sought by the police for his alleged involvement in the clash, denied the accusations in an interview with Citi News.
Meanwhile, MP Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, addressing a gathering at Asesewa Zongo during a tour with the party’s general secretary, refuted claims that the NPP candidate personally purchased the DRIP equipment.
