Vice President Calls for Moral Responsibility at Ahmadiyya Summit

The Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has urged Ghanaians to uphold integrity, oppose injustice, and embrace ethical leadership as vital pillars for national strength. She made the call at this year’s Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Summit, held under the theme “Moral Decadence and Our Responsibilities in the Light of Islamic Teachings.”

In her address, the Vice President reflected on the moral responsibility of both citizens and leaders to act with courage and righteousness. Drawing on Quranic lessons, she stressed that ethical leadership and moral courage remain indispensable for building a strong and just society.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed government’s commitment to accountability and transparency, citing improved coordination among key anti-corruption agencies and the enforcement of a strong Code of Conduct for public officials.

She commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for its practical contributions to national development, particularly in agriculture. The Pomadze Poultry Initiative, she noted, is progressing steadily and aligns with national programmes such as Feed Ghana and Nkoko Nkitinkiti. The project is expected to boost domestic poultry production, create jobs, stabilize prices, and enhance food security.

Beyond agriculture, the Vice President acknowledged the Community’s investments in education, healthcare, and humanitarian service. She highlighted the role of Lajna Imaillah, the women’s wing, whose efforts exemplify service to humanity in action.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang outlined key areas of progress under the current administration, including economic stabilisation, reforms in education and health, skills development for the youth, and renewed focus on infrastructure, good governance, and social fairness.

She concluded by thanking the people of Ghana for their trust in His Excellency’s administration, urging all citizens to remain committed to faith, unity, and service to the nation in the new year.
