The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II, Makes Historic Appearance at Ghana Police Headquarters

Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II, the Asantehene, has made a significant visit to the Ghana Police Service headquarters, reaffirming the traditional leadership’s commitment to supporting national law enforcement.

The engagement, which took place on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, brought together the revered monarch, senior police personnel, and other traditional rulers. It was hailed as a pivotal moment in the evolving partnership between the police and customary leadership.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, accompanied by top-ranking officers of the Ghana Police Service, welcomed the Asantehene and presented updates on current strategies focused on boosting public security and curbing criminal activity nationwide.

During his remarks, the IGP acknowledged the Asantehene’s enduring backing of the police force.

“Your support for the Ghana Police Service has been both fatherly and exemplary. I recall that you have hosted several IGPs and police leadership, offering counseling, guidance, and encouragement, with doors always open to us,” he said.

This milestone visit highlights ongoing initiatives to deepen cooperation between traditional institutions and state security agencies, promoting a unified approach to policing in Ghana.
