The Central Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFOII Merinder Mary Attigah-Mensah, has visited the Kasoa New Market fire scene to assess the extent of damage and express sympathy to affected traders.
Accompanied by the Kasoa Municipal Fire Commander, she commended fire personnel for their swift response to the incident. She urged municipal authorities to establish interim fire posts in both the old and new markets to strengthen emergency preparedness. ACFOII Attigah-Mensah further called for long-term measures, including re-demarcation and improved safety standards, to reduce the risk of future outbreaks.
The Member of Parliament for Ewutu Senya East, Hon. Phillis Naa Koryoo Akunor, also visited the site. She praised the emergency response teams for their dedication and pledged to collaborate with stakeholders to enhance market safety across the constituency.
The inspection underscored the importance of proactive fire safety measures and reinforced calls for stronger community resilience against market fires.
