President John Dramani Mahama is set to receive the concluding report of the Constitutional Review Committee today, Monday, December 22, at the Presidency in Accra.
The committee, chaired by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, Executive Director of the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), was tasked with examining the 1992 Constitution and recommending reforms aimed at strengthening Ghana’s democratic governance framework.
The report presentation, scheduled for 2:00 p.m., marks the culmination of months of nationwide consultations and technical assessments carried out by the eight-member panel.
Members of the committee include Justice Sophia Adinyira, a retired Supreme Court Justice; Professor Kwame Karikari; former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei; Dr. Godwin Djokoto; Ibrahim Tanko Amidu; Dr. Esi Ansah; and Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya.
The committee, inaugurated on January 30, was initially expected to complete its work by August. However, the sheer volume and complexity of submissions from the public necessitated a three-month extension to allow the panel to finalize its recommendations.
