Police Restore Calm After Violent Mob Attack on Kwame Danso District Court

The Bono East Regional Police Command has restored calm at Kwame Danso in the Sene West District after a violent mob attack on the District Court and District Police Headquarters on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.

According to a police statement issued in Techiman, an angry mob of about 100 youth stormed the Kwame Danso District Court around 10:30 a.m. during a court session. The group reportedly assaulted court officials, vandalised furniture, fans, and other property, before forcibly freeing two accused persons who were on trial. The mob also assaulted the complainant in the case.

The statement further revealed that the youths later attacked two police officers on duty at the District Police Headquarters and vandalised equipment and other facilities at the station.

A reinforcement team from the Atebubu Division, supported by a detachment of the Formed Police Units (FPUs), was deployed to regain control and restore order.

Following directives from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Kwame Danso Police Station and the District Police Headquarters have been temporarily closed. All personnel have been reassigned to other parts of the region until further notice.

The Command assured the public that it is pursuing all individuals involved. “Perpetrators will be identified, arrested and made to face the full consequences of the law,” the statement signed by ASP Appiah Danquah, Ag. PRO for the Bono East Region, concluded.
