Infantino Hails Ghanaian Fans as Black Stars Book 2026 World Cup Spot

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has praised Ghanaian supporters for the vibrancy, passion, and energy they consistently showcase on the international stage.

Sharing his delight at the Black Stars’ qualification for the FIFA World Cup, Infantino noted that the team has the ability to repeat their remarkable 2010 quarter-final achievement.

In a video address after Ghana’s 1–0 win over Comoros in Accra on Sunday—which confirmed their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States—Infantino applauded both the players and their fans, calling it a landmark moment for Ghana and the African continent.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in history,” Infantino said.

“Your fans will bring color, style and passion to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever in 2026 in Canada, Mexico and the United States.”

The FIFA President emphasized the distinctive atmosphere Ghanaian fans contribute to world football, stressing that their unwavering spirit has always enhanced the World Cup experience.

He added that the global football community eagerly anticipates seeing that same energy once again in North America.

Infantino also expressed optimism that the Black Stars will produce another unforgettable campaign, similar to their celebrated 2010 run in South Africa, when Ghana became only the third African side to reach the quarter-finals.

“We expect that your team will establish more global stars to follow in the footsteps of the famous team that made the quarter-finals of the tournament in South Africa in 2010,” he remarked.

“But for now, enjoy this special moment, and we cannot wait to see who the Black Stars will face when we have the final tournament draw on the fifth of December. See you all very soon. Well done. Congratulations. Bye.”

Ghana’s qualification secures their fifth World Cup appearance since making their debut in 2006.

The four-time African champions will now shift their attention to preparations for the 2026 tournament, with the group stage draw scheduled for December 5.
