The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has allegedly apprehended Kofi Akpaloo, the founder and head of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), at his residence in Kumasi.
According to sources, the early morning operation was executed by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU), dispatched from the agency’s Accra headquarters and working in collaboration with its Ashanti Regional Office.
Insiders indicate that the arrest was conducted smoothly, without any resistance.
While the exact grounds for the detention remain undisclosed, Akpaloo is reportedly being transported to Accra, where he is expected to cooperate with investigators as part of an ongoing probe.
EOCO has yet to issue an official comment regarding the development.
