The campaign office of Dr. Bryan Acheampong has issued a strong warning against what it described as deliberate attempts to misrepresent the presidential hopeful’s comments, urging the public to reject misleading narratives aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
In a statement released this week, the team accused political opponents of “maliciously editing” a video circulating on social media, which appeared to suggest that Dr. Acheampong blamed former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the longstanding Kusasi-Mamprusi conflict.
According to the campaign, the original comments were taken out of context. Dr. Acheampong, they clarified, had referred to Dr. Bawumia as a “victim of circumstance,” not as a source of division.
The statement reaffirmed Dr. Acheampong’s respect for Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and acknowledged his contributions to peace-building efforts within the party and the country at large.
Addressing the broader political landscape, the campaign team noted that tribal tensions were weaponized by opposition parties during the 2024 elections in an attempt to undermine the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) performance in critical constituencies. They stressed that this remains a strategic challenge that must be tackled with unity and strategic planning.
“Dr. Acheampong’s message is not about division,” the statement read. “It is about rallying the NPP around a winning strategy and candidate. His campaign is anchored on unity, transparency, and results.”
The team encouraged party members and the general public to listen to the full, unedited recording of Dr. Acheampong’s remarks and form fair judgments rather than relying on sensationalised excerpts.
“As the 2028 race begins to take shape, Dr. Acheampong’s campaign continues to position itself as a movement focused on resolving deep-rooted national issues and securing a decisive victory for the NPP”.
