The Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has voiced profound sadness and strong disapproval following the tragic slaying of Naa Abdul-Malik Azenbe.
The late Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region also held the role of Kaadi Divisional Area Chief in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.
In a message posted on his verified Facebook page, Hon. Mohammed-Mubarak condemned the killing as a “heinous act” and conveyed his sincere condolences to the grieving family, the Kusasi community in Ashanti, and the traditional leadership of the Kusaug area.
“This heinous act is not only an attack on a revered traditional authority but also a grievous wound to the peace and security we all cherish,” he wrote.
The Interior Minister reassured the public that Ghana’s security institutions are fully dedicated to identifying and apprehending those behind the crime, and ensuring they are prosecuted without delay.
He underscored the government’s unwavering resolve to uphold justice and safeguard the rights of every citizen.
“We remain resolute in protecting every citizen,” he said. “Our security agencies will pursue the perpetrators and ensure they face the full rigours of the law.”
He further urged residents especially those in the Asawase constituency and nearby communities—to stay calm and support the ongoing investigations by sharing any useful information with law enforcement.
“Let us all stand together to ensure that justice is served and that peace continues to prevail in our beloved constituency and nation,” he urged.
Hon. Mohammed-Mubarak concluded his statement with prayers for the departed chief, saying:
“May Allah grant the late Chief eternal rest and strengthen his family and community during this difficult time.”
