The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced that it generated US$1.011 billion in foreign exchange from artisanal and small-scale (ASM) gold trade operations in October 2026, reinforcing its role in supporting Ghana’s foreign exchange market and reserve accumulation efforts.
In a statement issued on Monday, GoldBod said the earnings were generated in accordance with its mandate under Section 2(b) of Act 1140.
According to the Board, the entire amount generated during the month was sold to authorized commercial banks through the GoldBod GoFX platform to support stability in the foreign exchange market.
“The full amount of foreign exchange generated, US$1.011 billion, was sold to authorized commercial banks on the GoldBod GoFX platform to support FX market stability in the month of October,” the statement said.
Building on October’s performance, GoldBod projects that it will generate US$1.2 billion in foreign exchange from ASM gold trade operations in November 2026.
Of the projected amount, US$800 million will be made available to commercial banks to support liquidity and stability in the foreign exchange market.
The Board indicated that all foreign exchange sales will continue to be conducted through the GoldBod GoFX platform in line with the approved FX Sales and Intermediation Framework to ensure transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.
GoldBod further reaffirmed its commitment to generating foreign exchange for the country while supporting the Bank of Ghana’s reserve accumulation programme.
“The GoldBod remains committed to its statutory mandate to generate foreign exchange for the country and will continue to support foreign reserve accumulation by the Bank of Ghana, in accordance with the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy (GANRAP),” the statement added.
