Mahama Reaffirms Ghana’s Non-Aligned Policy, Invites Global Investment

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to a non-aligned foreign policy stance, stressing that the country remains open to investors from across the world without favouring any particular bloc or nation.

Speaking at the Financial Times Africa Summit 2026, President Mahama said Ghana’s longstanding policy of maintaining friendly relations with all countries has contributed to the nation’s stability and economic development.

“We are friends to all and enemies to none, and Ghana’s policy of non-alignment has served us well,” he stated.

The President emphasized that Ghana welcomes investment from all parts of the world, noting that the country’s focus is on attracting capital that supports growth, job creation and shared prosperity.

“We welcome investors from all over the world. It is not about competition; it is about investment and ensuring a fair return for everyone, including ourselves,” he added.

Mr. Mahama’s remarks come at a time when African countries are increasingly seeking to balance strategic partnerships with multiple global powers while pursuing economic transformation and sustainable development.

His comments also underscore Ghana’s commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment that encourages both foreign and local participation in key sectors of the economy.

The President maintained that Ghana’s approach is guided by mutual benefit, transparency and national interest, as the country continues efforts to attract investment to drive industrialisation, infrastructure development and economic growth.

The Financial Times Africa Summit 2026 brought together policymakers, business leaders and investors to discuss opportunities and challenges shaping the continent’s economic future.
