The Chief Executive Officer of Tribe Culture Fest, Nana Boateng Gyimah, has strongly denied allegations attributed to the Minister for Sports, Kofi Adams, that he or the festival illegally received US$611,000 and had failed to refund the amount.
In a statement issued on October 12, 2026, Mr. Gyimah described the allegations as false and challenged the Minister to provide evidence to support the claims.
According to him, the only agreement relating to the arrangements in question was between Tribe Culture Fest, the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
“For the record, Tribe Culture’s agreement was solely with the National Sports Authority and Ghana Tourism Authority. Neither I nor Tribe Culture Fest received the alleged US$611,000 from any private individual in connection with the arrangements in question,” the statement said.
Mr. Gyimah further called on the Sports Minister to produce documentation, authorisations or any form of consent linking him or the festival to the alleged financial transactions.
He also demanded verifiable payment records showing who paid the money, who received it, when the payment was made and how the amount of US$611,000 was determined.
The Tribe Culture Fest CEO maintained that the allegations had the potential to damage both his personal reputation and the integrity of the organisation.
“My reputation and the integrity of Tribe Culture must not be undermined by unsubstantiated public accusations,” he stated.
Mr. Gyimah urged the Minister to either substantiate the claims with evidence or publicly withdraw the allegations and correct the record.
He warned that failure to do so could lead to legal action.
“I call on the Minister to substantiate his allegations or withdraw them and correct the public record or have my lawyers to deal with,” the statement concluded.
The development adds a new dimension to the controversy surrounding the alleged funds, with Mr. Gyimah insisting that neither he nor Tribe Culture Fest received the amount in question and demanding proof from the Sports Minister.
