President Akufo -Addo has expressed joy following the passage of the Electronic Transaction levy (E-levy) by Parliament.

Delivering the state of the Nations Address in parliament on Wednesday, he said he is delighted about the passage of the bill despite the prolonged proceedings and controversies.

“I’m happy the house has finally found it possible to pass the E levy” , he said. Parliament on Tuesday, March 29,2022 approved the E-levy.
President Akufo- Addo is expected to assent the Bill for it to become a law.

The minority in parliament walked out of parliament amid the proceedings after which the Bill was finally passed by the Majority side of parliament.
President Nana Addo is confident that the e-levy will generate revenue for the country. He added that the tax will make a significant contribution to the management of the economy.
The controversial e- levy is expected to garner a revenue of close to 60 billion cedis for the country.
