The Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu‑Danquah, has paid a working visit to the Centre for Plant Medicine Research (CPMR) to gain first‑hand insight into its operations and contribution to healthcare delivery in Ghana.
Prof. Ayensu‑Danquah toured key units of the facility, including the Microbiology Laboratory, Haematology and Biochemistry rooms, Drugs Analysis Office, Pharmaceutics and Quality Control Laboratory, and the Production Unit. At each unit, she was briefed on ongoing research activities, particularly the analysis and testing of plant‑based medicines, quality control processes, and the production of herbal medicinal products.
The Deputy Minister interacted with researchers and technical staff, commending them for their role in advancing scientific research and promoting the development of locally produced, safe, and effective plant‑based medicines. She underscored the importance of scientific innovation, quality assurance, and adherence to safety standards in strengthening Ghana’s health system.
Prof. Ayensu‑Danquah urged continued efforts to ensure that herbal medicines meet the required standards of efficacy and safety, noting that plant‑based remedies remain a vital component of healthcare delivery and innovation in Ghana.
