Perseus Mining Pays Record Dividend to Ghana

The Government of Ghana has received a record dividend of GH¢391,195,000 (US$35 million) from Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited, marking a sharp increase from the US$5 million paid last year.

Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, speaking on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, expressed appreciation to the company for its contribution, noting that the strong rise reflects Perseus Mining’s profitability.

He emphasized that Ghana must secure its fair share from the extractive sector, underscoring the rationale behind the introduction of the sliding‑scale system. The mechanism ensures that when mining companies earn more, the people of Ghana benefit proportionately.

The dividend payment highlights the growing role of the mining industry in supporting Ghana’s fiscal stability and demonstrates the impact of reforms aimed at maximizing national benefit from natural resources.
