Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak has commissioned the Dogo Moro Mini Stadium in his cherished Asawase Constituency, describing the facility as a milestone in the constituency’s transformation agenda through deliberate investment in infrastructure, youth development, and sports.
Joined by the Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong, Hon. Ben Abdallah Alhassan, the Municipal Chief Executive for Old Tafo, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq, religious and traditional leaders, members of the Old Footballers Association, and other stakeholders, Mubarak said the project demonstrates what purposeful leadership and political commitment can deliver for communities.
The facility features a modern AstroTurf football pitch with dressing rooms and spectator seating, as well as a multipurpose court for basketball, tennis, and volleyball. Mubarak noted that Asawase now boasts three completed AstroTurf facilities — Dogo Moro, Akurem Highlanders, and Aboabo Middle B — with three additional projects at Sawaba Gallery, Adukrom, and Boubai expected to be completed by year‑end.
“The name Dogo Moro was deliberately chosen to preserve an important part of our history,” Mubarak said, recalling the celebrated defender who rose from Asawase to become part of Ghana’s AFCON‑winning Black Stars teams of 1963 and 1965. “We hope that from this very pitch, another Dogo Moro will rise to represent Asawase, Ghana, and Africa.”
He expressed appreciation to former President John Dramani Mahama for his continued support, and commended the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, the Ashanti Regional Sports Directorate, religious and traditional leaders, and the Old Footballers Association for backing the constituency’s development agenda.
Earlier in the day, Mubarak attended the 65th anniversary of KNUST Senior High School, where he donated 500 bags of cement to help complete abandoned projects, describing the gesture as his contribution as an old student of Tech Sec.
