The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI) has partnered Digital Policy Alert and the St. Gallen Endowment for Prosperity through Trade to host a high‑level stakeholder workshop in Accra aimed at strengthening Ghana’s digital governance, regulatory coordination, and international digital trade engagement.
Opening the workshop on behalf of the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), the Director of the Digital Technology Directorate, Bishop Dr. Samuel Antwi‑Gyekyi, welcomed representatives from government ministries and agencies, academia, industry, civil society, and development partners. He described the engagement as timely, noting that Ghana is advancing an ambitious digital transformation agenda anchored on the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, improved data governance, the One Million Coders Programme, and the country’s growing leadership in digital governance across Africa.
Dr. Antwi‑Gyekyi emphasised that digital transformation cannot be driven by government alone and called for stronger collaboration between the public sector, industry, academia, entrepreneurs, and development partners to translate policy into jobs, innovation, and economic growth. He welcomed Digital Policy Alert’s expansion into Ghana, describing its digital policy intelligence platform and AI‑assisted regulatory analysis tools as valuable resources to support evidence‑based policymaking, regulatory alignment, and Ghana’s participation in regional and global digital trade discussions, including under the African Continental Free Trade Area Protocol on Digital Trade and the World Trade Organization.
The workshop provided participants with practical insights into tracking global digital policy developments, benchmarking Ghana’s regulatory framework against international best practice, and leveraging technology to strengthen policymaking.
The Ministry expressed appreciation to the Digital Policy Alert team, the St. Gallen Endowment for Prosperity through Trade, and all stakeholders for their partnership. It reaffirmed its commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive digital economy through sustained collaboration.
