The family of Ambassador James Victor Gbeho, a distinguished statesman and diplomat, has formally notified President John Dramani Mahama of his passing.

A delegation representing the Gbeho family paid a courtesy call on the President, underscoring the cultural and diplomatic importance of informing the Head of State before making a public announcement.

Ambassador Gbeho was a towering figure in Ghanaian and international politics. He served in multiple diplomatic missions, including New York, and held several high-profile roles: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Member of Parliament for Anlo, and President of the ECOWAS Commission. He was widely respected for his contributions to regional integration and his diplomatic work at the United Nations.

President Mahama expressed his condolences to the family and reflected on Ambassador Gbeho’s immense contributions to Ghana, West Africa, and the wider international community.

Funeral arrangements and details will be announced later.
