Lawyer Patrick Boamah, Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, has outlined the minority’s expectations ahead of the 2025 Budget presentation by Finance Minister, Dr. Ato Forson, scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
The law maker outline the expectations of the minority where he stated that (the minority) will be expecting a clear cut policy and budgetary line for president Mahama 24 hour economy.
Key Expectations:
Clear Policy and Budgetary Line for 24-Hour Economy: Boamah emphasized the need for a well-defined policy and budgetary allocation to support President Mahama’s vision for a 24-hour economy.
” We in the minority will be expecting a clear cut policy and budgetary line for the president vision and his campaign promises of 24 hour economy”
He stressed that, there have been different definitions and explanations for this policy to the extent that a policy advisor has been appointed to oversee the program, hence they need a clear cut policy on it.
Green Energy Program: The minority wants to understand the budgetary provisions for the president’s green energy program, particularly given the appointment of a Minister of State at the Presidency for Climate Sustainability.
Okada Riders Regulation: Boamah is looking forward to seeing how the president’s promises to okada riders will be regulated and implemented by the Ministry of Transport.
Tax Cancellations: The minority expects the cancellation of taxes such as the COVID-19 levy, betting tax, and e-levy, as promised by the president.
Boamah also criticized the Finance Minister’s recent visit to the market, labeling it a “populist strategy” aimed at garnering public support rather than addressing the country’s economic challenges.
