Hajj Package fee pegged at $6,500 – Hajj Board

The Ghana Hajj Board has announced this year’s Hajj Package fee for prospective pilgrims to Mecca in the month of Ramadan.

The fee has been pegged at $6,500 which translates to GH₵75,000, the Hajj Board said in a statement.

According to the Board, the cedi equivalent of GH₵75,000 will remain in force till March 31, and may change afterwards based on prevailing exchange rate of the US dollars after March.

The statement added that prospective pilgrims are therefore encouraged to pay early through any of the 42 accredited Hajj agents nationwide in order to secure their slots.

Deadline for pay payment is April 30, 2023.

Last year pilgrims paid an amount of Ghc 39,000.00 as the official fare for the pilgrimage to the Saudi Kingdom.

The Ghana Hajj Board made payments to the over 100 people who were unable to embark on the holy pilgrimage last year.

Over three thousand Ghanaians left the shores of the Ghana for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in July 2022 to perform the Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam. The event was cancelled for 2 years due to the advent of Covid-19 and its attendant restrictions.

Due to the numbers requested by the organisers of the annual event, some Ghanaians couldn’t embark on the journey and subsequently demanded a refund of their monies, which the board promised will be paid as soon as the paper works were done.

The President Nana Akufo Addo last month reconstituted the Hajj Board with Ben Abdallah Banda as the new chairman.
